I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing psychodynamic psychotherapy. I believe in the transformative power of the therapeutic process to help clients gain greater understanding of themselves and to empower them to effect the kind of change they are seeking.
I began my career working in a social service agency with children, youth, and families involved in the child welfare system and care deeply about social justice.
I received my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Washington University in St. Louis and am currently pursuing a PhD in Clinical Social Work from the Institute for Clinical Social Work.
Treatment Approach
As a psychoanalytically informed therapist, I am endlessly curious about what is happening under the surface and how a person is shaped by they context in which they live. I strive to create a non-judgmental, supportive space in which my clients will feel seen and safe to explore their inner world. I believe that developmental experiences (things that happen to us early in life) give rise to who we become and that it is worthwhile to examine these experiences as a way to know oneself more fully.
Many people seek therapy at a time in their lives when they have come to find certain emotions, relationships, decisions, etc., increasingly intolerable or disruptive. I think about therapy as a kind of laboratory where you can test out different ways of thinking, feeling, and relating as you discover more about how unconscious patterns have influenced you in the past and may continue to be interfering with living life freely in the present.
I work collaboratively with each client to determine the pace at which the treatment unfolds and recognize the uniqueness of each individual's experiences and needs in therapy.
